Arrow International Inc (Arrow), the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of charitable gaming products, through its UK subsidiary, Cowells-Arrow Bingo Company acquired the assets of Automatic Machine Services.

The acquisition provides Arrow entrance into the UK gaming machine market while expanding the service and product offering to both Cowells Arrow’s and AMS’ customers.

Cowells Arrow acquired AMS from Jason Jarrett, who will remain with the company going forward and join Cowells Arrow. “It is amazing that our relationship with the Cowells Arrow team has brought us to what will be an exciting step forward in the Company’s journey. The opportunity to join forces with and become part of the Arrow family will allow us to pursue and realize far greater business opportunities together.” said Jason.

Tony Lister, Managing Director of Cowells Arrow said, “We are thrilled to welcome Jason and AMS into the Arrow organization. The Company’s excellent market position and tenured customer relationships align well with our acquisitive growth strategy. We look forward to working with our newest partner while offering the resources of Cowells Arrow and the broader Arrow group to drive exciting developments.”

“Automatic Services” was established by James Frank Jarrett in August 1960 and supplied “one-arm bandits” to Social Clubs, Pubs, and most commonly to local cafés. A friendly, dedicated individual he grew the business, with the help of his wife Edith Mary, into a successful new venture.

From his workshop inside the Old Mill House in Chipstead, near Sevenoaks in Kent, Frank took to his new venture with a sound vision of providing an impeccable personal service to all customers with the very best machines he could source. He was soon increasing his customer numbers through recommendations, so it wasn’t long before he needed assistance from another pair of hands to ensure all customers received the highest levels of service that he insisted upon.

Roger, Frank and Edith’s only child, joined the company to work alongside his father in 1966.

Many new ideas were actioned and the range of products was increased to keep up with the developing industry. To keep with the trend of the time a notable name change took place at Roger’s request, the company was now known as “Automatic Machine Services” (AMS).
